Winter Recreation Program
The Eastside FC winter recreation program is ideal for people looking to try soccer out for the first time, or keep the momentum going from a previous season. The winter rec program will consist of small-sided games in a specific timeslot. Rosters will be drafted randomly, so there are no teammate requests like the fall or spring sessions.
Volunteer coaches ARE needed to organize small-sided games - NO PRACTICES
Session 1 Registration opens October 3rd.
Session 2 Registration opens December 1st.
Registration Fee: $100
Session 1 Weekends: 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 1/6, 1/13
Session 2 Weekends: 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16
Location: Eastside Tennis and Fitness Club, 18201 Warren Avenue, Detroit, MI 48224 (near Balduck Park) - Look for the Eastside Signs for soccer entrance.
Format:
- There will be 2 fields, 4 teams, warming up then playing 4v4 or 3v3 games.
- No Goalies
- Games will be 40-50 minutes depending on age.
- No practices during the week just games during the slot.
- Volunteer coaches earn FREE registration.
Times: To accommodate families' busy schedules, games will be played at the same day and time every week (see divisions, days, and times below). There are no weekday practices and no games scheduled during GPPSS breaks. Please register your player(s) for only one day/time!

Equipment: Players should have Eastside Rec Jerseys, Black Shorts, Soccer Socks, and Shin Pads. Jerseys are sold at Grosse Pointe Geek for $30. Please contact Matt Rainbolt ([email protected]) with questions.
My child has never played soccer, is this the right program for players new to the sport?
Absolutely, the Eastside FC recreation program is perfect for introducing your son or daughter to soccer. The program is focused on fun and basic skill development. Thousands of young players in our community got their start in Eastside’s recreation program.
Which age group is my son or daughter eligible to play in?
The "U" in each age group stands for under. So, a U7 division is for players who are under 7 years old. In the recreation division the cutoff date is August 1st of each year. Meaning, if your son or daughter is under 7 years old on August 1st, they would be eligible to play in the U7 division in the fall, winter and the spring season in the following year. The only exception to this rule is the U14 team; any player currently in the 8th grade or lower is eligible for the U14 division.
How do I register for the program?
Simply log in to your Eastside FC account by clicking on the "Log In" at the top of this page. If you do not have a Eastside FC account, go ahead and create one by following the prompts after clicking the "Register" button. Please remember your username and password as you will need it to access your account in the future.
